Porcelain veneers are thin, tooth like shells that covers the front and sides of the tooth. These delicate restorations are unbelievably strong and provide both a conservative and natural looking enhancement to your smile.
Dr. Scott Finlay of Annapolis uses only the finest materials. We work with the leading dental laboratories to artistically create porcelain veneers that look, feel, and function like natural teeth.

Porcelain Veneers Process
Dr. Finlay follows a four step smile design process for porcelain veneers. This process begins with a comprehensive evaluation to examine your teeth, gums, mouth, jaw joints and muscles. Next, Dr. Finlay uses 2-D and 3-D imaging to simulate the proposed results of the treatment, allowing the you and the dentist to visualize the outcome and test its function.
Next, Dr. Finlay will create interim replicas, also called provisionals, of your final porcelain veneers. You will have the opportunity to wear the temporary teeth veneers to make sure you are happy with the look and feel. Copies of the provisionals are made and then sent to a dental laboratory where the porcelain veneers will be hand crafted.
The final porcelain veneers will be permanently bonded to the teeth, gently polished and adjusted for color if necessary.
Your New Smile
With porcelain veneers, your teeth will appear brighter, whiter, straighter and more beautiful. Our goal is to create a smile that compliments your face and looks like it was supposed to be there.
We take measures during the treatment planning to ensure that any problems with the teeth are corrected to prevent future damage and wear from occurring in the porcelain veneers.
Veneers vs. Lumineers and No-Prep Solutions
The marketing of products like Lumineers have popularized the concepts of ultra conservative or no preparation in the delivery of these restorations. Dr. Finlay does not offer Lumineers in his practice but does offer products that in his experience are a significant upgrade in creating predictable, durable and beautiful results.
Ideal candidates for minimal preparation or no preparation have teeth that are in relatively good condition and position with minor concerns such as color, slight surface blemishes, or minor spaces.
Our goal is to conserve as much of the tooth structure as possible. However, it is often important to prepare the teeth properly to ensure the best fit, comfort, and aesthetics for the patient. In Dr. Finlay’s experience, the limitation in incorrect application of “no prep” veneers, are restorations that are bulky, artificial and cause periodontal concerns.
